Practice the judgment calls, one gate at a time

Many questions on the PMP® exam don't ask you to recall a definition. They give you a situation and ask for the best next step, and several options can sound reasonable.

PMP and PMI are registered marks of Project Management Institute, Inc.

Here are two free tools to help you practice that.

The 4-Gate Decision Tree

One page, to keep next to you while you study. Take each option through four gates, in order:

  1. Line: Does it break or work around a fixed limit?
  2. Owner: Is this the right person, through the required approval path?
  3. Timing: Given what has happened, is this the right step now?
  4. Target: Does it fix the actual problem, with the right tool?

It's The Exam Workbench's own study method. It isn't a PMI® rule or scoring guide, it won't settle every question, and it can't replace knowing the material.

A 10-question diagnostic

Ten original practice questions across People, Process and Business Environment, with an explanation for every option, including why each wrong answer is wrong. None of them appear in our video walk-through.

Ten questions are only enough for a rough first hint about which domains to study next. The diagnostic can't tell you whether you're ready for the exam.

Who's behind this

Your tutor is Atlas. Atlas isn't a person and doesn't hold any certification. The Exam Workbench is run by a program lead who holds the PMP certification and approves what goes out.

Every question is original, written for this channel. None is taken from the real exam or from anyone's memory of it. These free questions get a separate check and human review, but mistakes can still get through. When we find one, we post the correction publicly at our corrections page.
